Robert
Belfour, Pushin My Luck, 2003 Fat Possum Records,
$17. Man, oh man. This
CD should have been called "The Real Deal." Because it is
as real as it gets. Belfour may have left the Mississippi Hill Country
for Memphis in 1959, but the hypnotic sound of the Hill Country jukes
never left him. If you like Jr. Kimbrough, R.L. Burnside and Jessie
Mae Hemphill, then you'll love Pushin My Luck. It's all acoustic.
Many cuts with Ted Gainey drums. 10 tracks:
- Hill Stomp
- Breaking My Heart
- Pushin' My Luck
- Go Ahead On
- You Got Me Crying
- I Got My Eyes On
You
- Sweet Brown Sugar
- Stayed Awake
- Crazy Ways
- I'm Gonna Leave

- Willie
Foster, Live at Airport Grocery, 1999 Mempho Records, $15.
- Willie
