John Anton Ruskey-- the River Man.
John settled in Clarksdale over a decade ago. Since his arrival, he has helped: run the Delta Blues Museum, found the Delta Blues Education Fund, run the Sunflower River Blues & Gospel Festival acoustic stage and more. He currently owns and operates Quapaw Canoe Company (see "Links" and "Clarksdale Guide" on this web site). As if that is not enough, he is an excellent musician and a wonderfully talented painter. Below are a few of his paintings plus one of his homemade cigar box diddley bo guitars. The next time you come to Clarksdale, look him up and take one of his canoe excursions on the mighty Mississippi.
