Butch
Ruth -- old timey photographer.
Butch Ruth lives in
Greenville, Mississippi. He's been shooting blues photos and other Southern
subject matter for a number of years now. When he's not shooting a camera,
he's usually searching yard sales, the classifieds or eBay to buy or trade
for one. He is an old camera equipment junkie. He loves film -- not digital.
And he loves to experiment. He uses old cameras, cheap cameras, children's
cameras... whatever he thinks might give him the effect he's looking for.
He also goes out of his way to assist and promote Mississippi's great
blues performers. He was Eugene Powell's caretaker late in life and continues
to help out guys like T-Model Ford and Pat Thomas when they need it. In
the past, he has assisted the Mount Zion Fund, Greenville Blues Walk of
Fame, Highway 61 Blues Museum and countless other blues-related organizations.
His photos hang in various blues museums and have appeared in several
publications.
