Lonnie Mack "Wham of that Memphis Man"... Named after his two biggest hits "Wham" (first single a young Stevie Ray Vaughan ever bought) and "Memphis" (based on the Chuck Berry classic), this is a killer 1960s blues-rock collection of Mack's half-instrumental/half-vocal songs cut for the Fraternity label. Mack, like me, was from the Midwest, so I was lucky enough to see him play a few times in Dayton and Cincinnati, Ohio. Dang he made his sizzling guitar playing look so easy. Super nice guy with his fans as well — always taking the time to talk and sign autographs. Great album! - Roger Stolle (Cat Head)
